The Nicholas Street Precinct is Ipswich City Council's revitalisation of the Ipswich CBD — a Council-owned project built over a live railway, under strict heritage constraints and sustained public scrutiny. Designed by Buchan and built by Hutchinson Builders.
I worked as Senior Project Manager on the retail component while at Ranbury (now RP Infrastructure), before founding Newberry & Co. In that role, I personally led delivery of the first two retail buildings — 'Metro B' and 'Eats' — across design, budget and program, managed stakeholder and community consultation, navigated approvals across multiple state authorities, and delivered construction with tier-one contractor Hutchinson Builders. Both buildings opened in 2022.
